For a while now I've been making Kumihimo braided bracelets. I put some pics on here a while ago.
I've been hunting around for a supplier of end caps as they have to be a decent size to take the braided satin cord I use.
These are the ones I use and the hole is about 5mm. It takes the cord I use as long as I bind it tightly with some strong thread. This compresses it as well as making it secure.
Once I've glued the cord into the end cap I use a jump ring to attach a magnetic clasp.
I always use magnetic clasps 'cos I can't be doing with fiddling around with lobster clasps or other fiddly types. With the magnetic ones I just wave one end near the other and CLUNK, the magnets find each other and it's all secure.
As they also do lovely beads and other useful stuff I thought you might like to hear about them.
They are called Nosek's - Just Gems!
Apart from having the bits and pieces I need their service is superb!! As long as I send my order in by 3pm on a working day then I usually get my order the next day (apart from Friday of course - then it comes Monday). My last order was placed late in the afternoon on Friday and it arrived yesterday. Postage costs are reasonable too - just £1.70 for standard first class.
There are so many jewellery suppliers out there that personally I think fast service is really important. I can't wait to see all the gorgeous colours of satin cord!!!!
They often have good discounts which are on their website home page but if you sign up for their newsletter you sometimes get a bit extra discount. My last order had 30% off - great hey?
